Suicide and BPD

People with borderline personality disorder often show suicidal threats, behaviors and even successfully complete their intention to end their lives. According to the study, approximately 70 percent of borderlines will attempt at least one suicide through their lifetime. This is pretty scary. Many sufferers try to attempt a suicide whenever their fear is triggered by the certain events or situations. It is said that 8-10 percent of borderlines do actually end up killing themselves.

People with BPD struggle with intense negative emotional responses and experiences. Certain situations are too painful for them to handle so they rather walk away or even end their life to escape from the reality. There are many ways to sooth yourself and healthy people without BPD typically know how to calm yourself down during crisis, but borderlines have difficult time letting it to and just focus on the positives.
